My favourite Oscar dresses...ever!!

After this years disappointing display of red carpet dresses, I decided to look back through previous years and pick out some that wow'd me and made me stop and stare!

Do you agree??
Jennifer Aniston in Valentino - 2009

Charlize Theron in Gucci - 2004 (she won the Oscar!)

Catherine Zeta Jones in Monique Lhuiller - 2011

Penelope Cruz in Versace - 2007
Reese Witherspoon in Armani Prive - 2011
Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham - 2010
Julia Roberts in Vintage Valentine - 2001(she also won the Oscar!)
And surprising enough, they are all by some of the great and classic designers... Valentino, Versace, Armani and Jenny Packham!!!
One day I will wear a dress like one of these above (yes it will porbably be my wedding day ;-))

The one we've been waiting for....The Oscars!!

It was like waiting for Christmas yesterday...I was so excited for the red carpet coverage by Enews! that I turned off my mobile, shut the blinds, grabbed a glass of vino and waited with baited breath.  I love the fashion at The Oscars, because they normally always save the best till last, I could hardly contain myself! But I have to say I was quite disappointed :-(

I think the time has come for me to leave Manchester and head to Hollywood to help the starlets out with their wardrobes for the awards season!! Some of the ladies styling was a bit off, for some I think they played it safe and some just got completely the wrong dress!! They need my help!! ;-)
Its The Oscars for goodness sake, I want drama, I want risk takers, I want breathtaking beauties and I want dresses that I would give my right arm for!

I was expecting swirls of fantastic fabrics, intricate beading, glitz, glamour and my jaw to hit the floor with amazement. Such a shame that this isn't what I got, however; thankfully, one dress really made me say WOW.

Simply Stunning!
I was actually speechless when I saw this, Gwyneth is faultless, I dont have a bad word to say!!

I love that she chose a classic one shoulder style dress, but added a twist. The cape really gives the dress the wow factor and that fashion edge that I was hoping for.

The colour is perfection on her skin tone, cream was the colour of the night too. Her hair is simple but chic, showing off her beautiful neck. Her Make-up is classic smoldering eyes and nude lips, beautifully  understated.

I think Gwyneth has had a 'Julia Roberts' moment.
The vintage Valentio dress Julia wore to the The Oscars back in 2001, was also very simple, yet with the right hair, make-up and styling, it totally blew everyone else out of the water!!

Well done Gwyneth, you look mesmerizing and show you clearly know how to work that red carpet.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford

Below is a few other dresses that are worth a mention! Miss Jennifer Lopez, you are stunning, you are my body inspiration, but I do think its about time you started to cover up your boobies!! Love the dress other than that ;-)
Jennifer's revealing Zuhair Murad dress
boobies are nearly out!!

Penelope the colour is gorgeous, a bit obvious, you've done this look a million times, but looking hot!!

Penelope in Armani
Milla Jovovich aslo rocked the cream colour, although not as rocking as Gwyneth ;-) but for her first time at the awards she showed some of the veterans how to work it!

Kirsten Wiig in J Mendal

Rose Byrne in British Designer Vivienne Westwood

Mellow Yellow

I'm not normally a fan of the colour yellow, I don't own any yellow clothes, none of my walls are painted yellow and  I don't  eat yellow food! although on paper it should suit me. I should be able to carry it off with my dark hair and oilive ish skin but its a colour I worry will make me look like I'm 5 again!!

However after seeing Emmy Rossum in this vision of sunshine loveliness, I have changed my mind!!

The dress screams Oscar de la renta, or Valentino but no, its by Oliver Tolentino. He's an LA based designer and a red carpet favorite amongst the young, up and coming talent of Hollywood.
I think the shape of the dress helps too, fitted and flared is a style that will suit most body shapes, including mine! I Love the styling; simple but still fresh. her hair scraped back and nude, pink tones in her make-up complement the overall look.

I would love to own this dress and saunter round town with cocktail in hand, however it will probably cost more than 6 months wages so here's a few delightful dresses that wont break the bank!

The Brit Awards : Best & Worst Fashion

So last night saw the best of Britain's musical talent walk the red carpet, and show us what they are made of in the fashion stakes; some were triumphant, quite a few unfortunately were not!! Here's my round up of the best and worst of the night....

Best:
Kylie - YSL
Abby Clancy
Cher Lloyd
One Direction
Adele - Burberry
Lana Del Ray - Vivienne Westwood
Jessie J

Although I hate to admit it; Cher Lloyd really surprised me in a good way!! This outfit shouldn't work but somehow it does (probably cos she's so skinny!!! Any 'normal' person would look like a bloated quality street)
but 10 out of 10 for effort ;-)

Adele, you look fabulous and were definitely one of the best dressed, however I do have one gripe! Now I know you like black and its becoming a trademark of yours but maybe you could try a bit of colour...just cos your not a size 6 doesn't mean you can't experiment and get it right!! So please for me, give it a go!

Kylie and Abbey Clancy always seem to look good at red carpet event's.. and the Brit's was no exception. Simple, classic and elegant worked well for these two blonde's.

Now I know One direction is a bit of an odd choice but fair play to the boys how hot...ummmm.... I mean stylish do they look?!! Winning a Brit for best song is totally absurd but their outfits and styling are bang on, well done boys (or more likely your stylist!)

Lana Lana Lana! High Five to you...SENSATIONAL!!

Worst:

Holly Willoughby
Rhianna - Givenchy
Sara Cox

Florence Welch - Alexander McQueen
Alexandra Burke
Lydia Bright

Katie Melua

Pixie Lott
Little Mix

Im sorry but I'm not impressed with any of the above, some I'm not surprised as they always look rubbish anyway...but some could have quite frankly just tried a bit harder and got it right!

Im not even going to waste my breath talking in depth anbout each outfit as it only really deserves the effort of me typing a handful of words!!

Holly - Boring
Rhianna - Cheap looking hooker
Sara - Fits you like a bin bag
Florence -  why are you covered in toilet roll?
Alexandra - Try hard wannabe
Lydia - Why go out in your nightie? and no it isn't vintage chic!
Katie - You look like your in drag
Little Mix - Please borrow One Directions stylists
Pixie Lott - You look a little bit preggers!! (sorry if you are)

In conclusion... the best dressed look like stars, the worst look like they've been hit by cars!!

Kate Beckinsdale Dazzles in Vivienne Westwood

WOW....How beautiful does Kate look, talk about doing it for the Brits ;-) To be honest, Ive never really been a fan of her work or her wardrobe for that matter but I have to admit she is absolutley rocking this outfit!
This gorgeous grecian style draped number is stunning.
The colour is so sweet but not sickly and the fit of the dress clings in all the right places to Kate's enviable body!
I know she has probably had work done, but if she has its very subtle and she looks flawless!

Hot Pink to make the boys wink ;-)

Soooo im a little bit obsessed with hot pink at the moment! Dont know why as I'm not a fan of pink, never really have been! But whilst in topshop at the weekend, this dress caught my eye!

I think the skater style dress really suits my figure..big boobs and bum, with quite short legs :-( and it has a really cute cut out detail at the back (hence why i have a bandeau underneath)
But the colour is the winning element! it really warms your skin tone up giving you a 'just been away' glow, its slimming and bang on trend! What a bargain at £29!

p.s I've heard it comes in a a lovely blue colour...hurry up pay day!!! x
